Preferred Name and Pronoun Information

The College of Charleston recognizes that as a community, members may choose to use names other than their legal names to identify themselves. A currently enrolled student may update personal information on his or her permanent academic record by presenting a signed Legal Name Change/Correction Request form along with appropriate documentation to the Office of the Registrar.

Information about a name change request and required documentation can be found on the Office of the Registrar website

If you have questions or need assistance contact the Office of the Registrar. This office is located in the Lightsey Center on 160 Calhoun Street, suite 281 on the 2nd floor. The office is open Monday - Friday from 8:30-5:00p.m.

GSEC recommends the following statement for your syllabi:

I will gladly honor your request to address you by the name and gender pronouns of your choice.  Please advise me of this early in the semester via your college-issued email account or during office hours so that I may make the appropriate notation on my class list.
