GSEC Events:

Events are scheduled throughout the academic year. Many of these events are in collaboration with on and off campus partners that support the GSEC mission. Events are designed to provide a forum for educational dialogue and personal awareness.

On Campus Events:

October is LGBT Month!

  • Check out the GSEC LGBT history slides - slides will be showing in the Stern Student Center lobby, Maybank Hall, and the Office of Institutional Diversity
  • Get your Pride Band - bands will be distributed throughout the month in the courtyard area next to the Office of New Student Programs

Pride Schedule:

Saturday, September 23, 2017: Charleston Pride & Rally in Brittlebank Park

Join GSEC on Saturday (September 23, 2017) as we represent the College of Charleston in the Charleston Pride parade. Walkers can meet the CofC group at 8:45a.m. in front of Dudley’s on Ann Street. We will have a golf cart following our group stocked with water and swag to throw out to the crowd. If you wish to participate in the parade email If you are bringing others please let me know how many in your group. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, partners, friends are welcome to walk with us! Those participating in the parade with the GSEC group will receive a rainbow pride flag lapel pin.

The Pride Parade steps off at 9:00am. The 1.8 mile parade route begins at Wragg Mall on the corners of Ann and Meeting Streets. The parade processes to King Street and heads south on King, traveling past Marion Square, the heart of downtown Charleston. Once the parade hits Broad Street, the procession takes a right and continues until Colonial Lake.  The rally is immediately after the parade in Brittlebank Park.
